I am a fully trained Mental Health Practitioner and Art Therapist, with 30 years of experience providing support for adults, individuals and groups. My early training in Toronto, Canada was in Art Therapy using a psychodynamic approach. Additional training in brief therapy models: Cognitive Behavioural, Psycho-Educational, and Solution Focused Therapy, have provided opportunities to integrate a more creative and flexible client centred approach. I have worked in both the public and private sector, and am now in private practice. My areas of specialty include stress, expat and relocation concerns, anxiety, anger, depression, communication, chronic or long term illness, and grief and loss… in all its forms. This includes supporting expats, as mentioned earlier, to address concerns such as relocation, integration, feelings of loss, isolation and uncertainty. In addition, I work closely with the 2SLGBTQI community, supporting concerns that are unique to this culture. I hold a Masters Diploma in Art Therapy from the Toronto Art Therapy Institute, Toronto, Canada, and I am a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, and the Asociación Española de Arteterapia ATE (Spanish Art Therapy Association).
If this is a new journey for you, or a continuation, creating and holding a safe space will support you in telling your story… in your own words… from your own voice.
I provide supportive counselling in response to your needs, and based on how you process information, how you communicate, and what your goals and expectations are. My approach is eclectic, and I specialise in positive psychology strategies that include motivational treatment techniques like Solution-Focused Therapy, Wellness Coaching and Life Enhancement. Whether using one of these modalities, or a combination of them, they all tap into your existing strengths and your resilience… and that is the foundation I work from.
My early training in art therapy has provided opportunities to introduce creative strategies and approaches that can reflect and support your needs and your goals. This could include art therapy, guided imagery, and creative writing.
In addition, I will regularly keep track your progress to make sure you are reaching your goals, and are getting the support you need.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, a city rich in multi cultural diversity, I’m familiar with an incredible variety of cultures, customs, and ways of being. Now living in Spain, I am also an expat, and know very well the exhilaration and challenges of relocating to a completely new culture! Apart from my passion as a mental health practitioner, I love being physically active. Living in a beautiful city like Valencia, on the shores of the Mediterranean is a dream come true. I am passionate about cycling, swimming, hiking and horse riding. I also love drawing and painting, and am not too bad in the kitchen!
I relocated to Valencia, Spain in 2016, where I work in private practice, and continue to present my work internationally.
I’m an English-speaking Mental Health Practitioner and Counsellor, incorporating elements of Life Enhancement and Wellness Coaching into my practice. I specialise in working with adults: individuals and couples. I’m located in Valencia, Spain, and I provide in person, and online support to individuals and couples through video calls.
